We live in the unique area of Nieuwegein, specifically the old Vreeswijk, which is close to our hunting grounds. Over the years, we have owned various dog breeds, depending on the type of hunting available at the time. However, the Weimaraner remains our favorite. This versatile breed not only has a stunning appearance but also possesses a character that challenges you and allows for a strong bond.

Our Weimaraners are true family members and hold an important role in our daily lives. As mentioned, we are active in practical hunting and love taking our Weimaraners along. We also regularly offer friends the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with their own Weimaraners. Our core breeding philosophy focuses on a balance of good health, a stable and friendly temperament, excellent conformation, and thorough hunting training complemented by real-world experience.

We believe that official working qualifications are only an indication of a dog’s hunting potential. True ability is best revealed through practical training in real hunting situations – there is no distinction between show and working lines in our vision. This principle is fundamental to our kennel.

We usually breed one litter per year and carefully match our puppies with the right owners. While we understand that not everyone will hunt with their Weimaraner, we do expect owners to understand the breed’s needs and provide the necessary mental challenges through training. A Legacy of Passion

Of The Grey Noble began with Gerda’s love for Weimaraners, which started in 1975. Her first Weimaraner, Lady Kallista of the Three Turnip’s, introduced her to the breed, but it was her half-sister, Lady Mara, who truly became the foundation since 1977 of the kennel. With her exceptional qualities, Mara shaped the breeding program and her bloodline lives on in many of today’s Of The Grey Noble Weimaraners. Over the years, the kennel became known for its carefully selected lines, always with a focus on pleasing temperaments, working ethos & excellent conformation.

To secure the future of the kennel, Gerda welcomed dedicated co-owners. In 2004, Chantal Kok-van der Horst joined, and in 2014, we – Esther & Gerrit – became part of Of The Grey Noble. Before that, we had already been breeding with great passion under our own kennel name, Van Vreeswijk. Our journey with Weimaraners began with Floor, the dog who made us fall in love with the breed.

Continuing the Legacy

In 2011, Gerda entrusted us with Smashing Showdiva of the Grey Noble “Evie”, who became the foundation of our breeding in Vreeswijk. Bred from distinguished English bloodlines, Evie possessed an exceptional temperament – both affectionate and highly trainable. Combined with her sound structure and natural working ability, these qualities were consistently passed on to her offspring and continue to shape the bloodline we proudly build today.

Evie’s Legacy

Among Evie’s offspring, three dogs became especially significant in our journey:

Be Famous Gillian of the Grey Noble “Gill” B-litter
Coast Showdiva of the Grey Noble “Moose” C-litter

While Rocco remained a much-loved companion co-owned by Imke Hennink, it was Gill and Moose who became the foundation females of the bloodlines we continue to build in Vreeswijk today.

Beyond our own kennel, many of Evie’s offspring and descendants have also achieved remarkable success in both the show ring and the field, nationally and internationally – a testament to the consistency of her exceptional qualities.

To further strengthen our bloodlines, we imported Sireva’s Grey Noble Sky Line “Knox” from the renowned Sireva kennel. Tragically, Knox’s life was cut short in a fatal accident, but his influence continues through his outstanding offspring from our D-litter and through Lisbone from the du Chêne Sessile kennel.

Today, four generations of this carefully preserved bloodline continue through:

Spencer, Moose’s daughter from our E-litter, living with our dear friend Wendy in Arnhem.
Meara, Gill’s daughter from our H-litter, living with Janine & Arjan van Bladel in Vlijmen, who also owned Morain, Evie’s dam.
Match, Moose’s daughter from our I-litter, who lives with us in Vreeswijk.
Casey, Meara’s daughter from our K-litter, representing the newest generation growing up in our home.

Beyond Vreeswijk, Gill’s influence continues to grow. Two daughters from her F-litter – Famous Fossey of the Grey Noble “Fossey” at of the Dutch Grey and Famous Lovelace of the Grey Noble “River” at van de Runnenburgh – are continuing her legacy in the next generation. Together with many other Grey Nobles succeeding in the show ring, the field and as cherished family companions, both nationally and internationally, they are a wonderful reflection of the versatility and temperament we strive for.

Although Gill and Moose are no longer with us, their legacy lives on through every new generation. Their influence is inseparably woven into the generations carefully developed by Gerda since 1977. Today, four generations of Gerda’s bloodline live on in Vreeswijk – a continuation of the legacy that began nearly five decades ago.

Together with Gerda & Chantal, we are proud to continue this remarkable legacy. By preserving and carefully developing these bloodlines across generations, we remain dedicated to breeding beautiful, healthy and versatile Weimaraners with sound temperaments, natural working ability and correct breed type – ensuring that this legacy will continue for generations to come.
